World University Winter Games Selection

Had a very busy summer so far, working lots, as well as generating support and sponsors!

Last week I was officially selected to represent Great Britain in Snowboardcross at the 26th World University Winter Games in Trentino, Italy in December was announced by BUCS!

I will be representing Heriot-Watt University, it being my first year as a graduate I am still eligible! It’s a great honour, especially as Heriot-Watt recently won Scotland’s National Performance Centre for Sport Bid! See here

Alongside me in the Snowboardcross team will be Thomas Bankes, Jennifer Osbourne and Giorgia Rescigno

I went to the games in 2011 in Erzurum, Turkey and it was a great experience! I got to the finals and came 29th, I’m aiming for a top 16 result this year.

World University Games 2011, Erzurum, Turkey - I came 29th!

As there are a number of other sports, with athletes from all over the world, all staying in an athletes village, it’s pretty much the closest thing to a  Winter Olympics in Snowboarding!

Other sports include; Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Ski Jumping, Freestyle Snowboarding &Freestyle Skiing, Curling, Ice Hockey, Speed Skating and Synchronized Skating

The entire event is from the 11th till the 21st of December, I’ll be competing at the start of the event on the 11th and 12th! It’ll all be covered live on Eurosport!
